Addressing Dog Obedience Issues

Is your dog digging up the yard, barking nonstop, or jumping on guests? We totally understand how frustrating that can be. Our personalized private dog training in Albuquerque is here to help! Using gentle, positive reinforcement, our trainers come right to your home, creating a stress-free environment where your pup can learn and thrive—so you can enjoy a calmer, happier life together.

When Dog Training Does More Harm Than Good

Choosing the wrong training methods can harm you and your dog. Techniques like balance training or dominance training, which rely on punishment rather than positive reinforcement, often cause more harm than good. They can increase fear, anxiety, and even aggression, making your dog’s behavior worse.

These approaches can damage the trust between you and your pup, making it harder for them to respond to your cues. Positive reinforcement is key to building a strong, healthy bond and ensuring your dog feels safe and confident. This is exactly what our private dog training in Albuquerque focuses on—creating a positive, trust-based relationship that helps your dog succeed.

Long-Term Success with Positive Reinforcement

Positive reinforcement is a proven method for building a lasting, happy relationship with your dog. Rewarding good behavior with praise rather than punishment or intimidation helps your dog learn faster and with less stress. This gentle approach makes training more enjoyable for you and your dog and nurtures a deeper sense of trust and respect.

About Good Buddy Dog Training

Very good dog training. The dogs have progressed quite far and he gave us the skills to keep them learning new behaviors. I was very happy with the in-home training and how he fit it into our schedule. I looked at four different trainers before selecting Paul and am glad I chose him. If you need dog training then this is the place to get it.

I have nothing but great things to say about Good Buddy Dog Training. I’ve tried working with other trainers and they kinda made me feel like my dog was a lost cause. I started working with Paul and OMG can I see a difference in my pup. The instructions are simple to follow and Paul was really great to work with. I recommend Good Buddy Dog Training to any and everyone I know looking for a dog trainer.

FAQs for Private Dog Training in Albuquerque

What is the cost of private dog training?

The price of our private dog training program depends on your dog's unique needs and the objectives established during the initial assessment. Typically, our six-week Good Buddy Dog Training Program meets most clients' goals and costs $850. For more complex situations, further training might be necessary, which will be discussed with your trainer after the initial evaluation.

What’s included in the package?

By the end of our Good Buddy Dog Training Program, your dog will have mastered key commands such as Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Place, and Loose Leash Walking, along with improved obedience overall. We’ll also address minor behavioral concerns like jumping on guests, charging the door, or digging. If your dog struggles with more serious reactivity issues, an additional two weeks of training may be recommended.

Why isn’t the evaluation free?

The initial evaluation is a vital part of our private dog training process in Albuquerque. It allows our trainers to assess your dog’s behavior and create a tailored training plan that fits their specific needs. We pay our trainers for the reserved time slot, even if a client cancels or misses the appointment. If you choose to continue with the Good Buddy Dog Training Program, the evaluation fee will be applied to your total tuition.

How many weeks is the training?

Our typical private dog training program lasts six weeks. Our trainer will guide you and your dog through various obedience and behavior modification techniques during this time. For more complex behavioral challenges, extra weeks might be suggested.

How long is each session?

Each session typically runs for one hour. During this time, the trainer will demonstrate techniques, practice commands with your dog, and guide you through exercises to reinforce training throughout the week.

What if something comes up and I have to miss a week?

We know life happens! If you need to miss a week, just let us know as soon as you can. We’re happy to reschedule your private dog training session in Albuquerque to keep your pup’s progress on track.
